ABOUT

Aidan O’Connor has extensive experience in the French Grande Ecole and University systems, as well as in the University system in several European countries.  He was Senior Professor of Strategy and International Business at ESCEM, School of Business, France for 18 years, and later at EXCELIA Business School, France, following a merger of these business schools.  Contemporaneously he was Academic Director and Head of Double Degree Joint Masters programmes in International Business with several universities in Europe, Asia, and North America.

He has wide experience in banking, as a member of management, especially as senior researcher in policy, planning, and risk management, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Banking, a recognised college of University College Dublin, Ireland, where he obtained his undergraduate degree in economics and psychology.

His postgraduate studies were in statistics and economics at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, where he was later an adjunct faculty member.

​

He obtained his Doctorat en Sciences Economiques, from HEC, Université de Lausanne, Switzerland, and while there was Research Assistant responsible for managing a Colloquium of invited experts on International Banking, and for editing a book based on this colloquium's proceedings, published by Palgrave.

​

He is Visiting Professor at the Universität Osnabrück, Germany, since 2004 where he delivers bi-annual seminars in Strategy and in International Business.

​

He was previously Visiting Professor in Financial Markets and Institutions at the Libera Università di Bolzano-Freie Universität Bozen, Italy, and in International Business at the IAE Aix-Marseille Graduate School of Management, Université d’Aix-Marseille, France, for many years.

​

He has published in international journals, as well as, being active on editorial boards of academic journals.  His current project is a book on International Banking and Bank Strategy, to be published by Springer Nature.  He published other books previously with Palgrave.
